Robbery – Lochside Road, Ayr
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed in Ayr on Monday, 26 June 2023.
Between 8.30 am and 8.55 am, a 35-year-old man was walking on a path in a grassy area off Lochside Road near to Heathfield Road when he was approached from behind by someone who stole his bag and left the area.
The bag contained personal items and a three-figure sum of cash. The man was taken to Ayr Hospital where he was treated and has since been discharged.
There is no description of the suspect available at this time.
Detective Constable Keyes-Parkinson, Ayr CID, said:
“Although this robbery happened in what would be considered a secluded or off-the-beaten track area, it is used by dog walkers and so we would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen the robbery or anything suspicious, to get in touch.
“From CCTV, a cyclist is seen emerging from the footpath into Lochside Road at almost the same time as the man who was robbed and also we believe there was a woman walking a black Labrador on the path around that time too. We’d ask them to get in touch with police as they may have seen something that could help our investigation.”
