Five youths arrested after attack on man in Wishaw

Officers investigating a serious assault of a 25-year-old man in Wishaw have arrested five youths in connection with the incident.

Around 8pm on Saturday, 27 May 2023, police received a report a man at a fast food restaurant in Glasgow Road, Wishaw had been assaulted. Emergency services attended and the man was taken to University Hospital Wishaw for treatment.

Three males aged 12, 14 and 15, and two females aged 14 and 15, have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. They have been referred to the Children’s Reporter.

Area Inspector, Alan Mulholland said: “We have been responding to issues in and around this location over the past few weeks and a number of interventions have been made to subdue the issue. We have also made a number of arrests and will continue to focus on the area to ensure it is safe for everyone to visit and enjoy.”
