Appeal after teenager was assaulted at Troon Beach
Officers in Ayrshire are appealing for information after an 18-year-old male was assaulted at Troon Beach.
The incident happened around 8.15pm on Wednesday, 31 May near to zone four on the beach, at sand dunes close to Victoria Drive.
A large group of youths, both male and female, had gathered in the area and during a subsequent disturbance the 18-year-old was struck with a bottle on the head.
He received hospital treatment for his injuries.
Enquiries are ongoing and officers are working to identify another male youth in connection with the incident.
He is described as white, in his late teens, with short hair. He was wearing a pink t-shirt, grey shorts and spoke with a local accent.
He made off along the beach on foot in the direction of Royal Troon Golf Club after the assault.
Officers are gathering relevant CCTV footage and reviewing it for any additional information.
Detective Constable Michael Grant said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have any information about this incident to get in touch. If anyone saw or noticed anything suspicious, or has any information on the suspect, please do get in touch with us.
“In particular, anyone with video footage that may have captured images which could assist the investigation.
“Officers will continue to patrol the beaches in Troon and across Ayrshire in the days ahead, as part of the Safer Shores initiative, and encourage the public to act responsibly if visiting the during the good weather.
