Two men convicted following a shooting in Cumbernauld
Two men have been convicted of attempted murder following a shooting in Cumbernauld.
Reece Govan, 27, and Bran Gallagher, 26, attacked a 31-year-old man with a machete and shotgun in Brunswick Gardens on 23 January, 2020.
A white Maltichon dog, known as Henry, was also killed when the firearm was discharged.
Both men appeared at the High Court in Glasgow on Friday, 21 July, 2023, and submitted guilty pleas.
They will be sentenced at Stirling Sheriff Court on Friday, 18 August, 2023.
Detective Superintendent Cameron Miller, of the Major Investigation Team, said: "This was a completely reckless act of criminality, and to happen in a residential street shows a total disregard for the safety of the public.
"A man was seriously injured and a woman, who was simply walking her dog, was left absolutely devastated.
"We will continue to target those involved in this sort of activity as we work to make our communities safer.
"I would like to thank the public for their support, and everyone who worked on this investigation."
