Police Scotland Youth Volunteers raise over £700 for Dunfermline charity
Dunfermline Police Scotland Youth Volunteers (PSYV) completed their annual fundraising event by competing in MacTuff Kids on Sunday, 14th May, 2023.
14 young people from Dunfermline PSYV took part in the event, supported by 6 adult volunteers.
They tackled mud, scaled 6 to 8 foot walls and tunnelled through boggy rivers.
The group raised over £700 for their chosen charity, The Diamond Association, a volunteer-led community group which promotes social inclusion for those with learning disabilities and additional support needs.
The cheque was presented at the Dunfermline PSYV Awards event on Tuesday, 27th, June at the Carnegie Conference Centre.
Youth volunteer Casey Cameron said: "MacTuff Kids was an unbelievable experience. As a team, we tackled each obstacle with determination, knowing that our efforts were making a positive impact.
"It was a test of our physical strength and mental grit that showed us the value of teamwork, perseverance and helping others."
The group of volunteers focused on finding a charity with similar aims and values to those of PSYV.
Speaking about The Diamond Association, volunteer James Lonie added: "The group creates an opportunity for fun and enjoyment, bringing joy and happiness to participants lives.
"The dedicated volunteers who run the disco exhibit compassion, patience and a genuine commitment to the wellbeing and happiness for those that attend week on week."
The PSYV works closely with partners to ensure a rounded approach is taken to community work and strengthen the positive influence of volunteers.
