Investigation into serious assault in Greenock
Detectives are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted in Greenock.
Around 2.20pm on Thursday, 26 January, 2023, police were called to West Blackhall Street in Greenock, following reports a man had been stabbed in a common close.
Emergency services attended and a 38-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with an injury to his leg. Medical staff describe his condition as stable.
Officers have been gathering CCTV footage from in and around the area for any additional information it can provide.
Detective Inspector Nikki Wake said: “This area was very busy yesterday and I would appeal to everyone who was in the area at the time to think back and consider if they noticed anything suspicious, did you see anything that seemed a little out of the ordinary?. I would also ask anyone with recording devices to check their footage as there may be images which could assist our inquiries. It’s important we find out exactly what happened and why this man was attacked.”
