Assistant Chief Constables appointed to Police Scotland's leadership team
Two Assistant Chief Constables have been appointed to Police Scotland's leadership team.
David Duncan is currently a Chief Superintendent with Police Scotland having served in a range of local policing, detective and support roles since joining legacy Strathclyde Police in 1995. Wendy Middleton is currently Chief Superintendent with Local Policing at the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
The appointments follow a process of assessment, interview and selection conducted by the Scottish Police Authority (SPA).
Chief Constable Sir Iain Livingstone said: “I congratulate our new Assistant Chief Constables on their appointments and welcome Wendy to Police Scotland. David and Wendy provide considerable experience and will join a stable team which is focused on public service and a shared mission to keep people safe. I thank all the candidates who stepped forward for what has been a demanding and competitive process.”
SPA Chair Martyn Evans said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of David Duncan and Wendy Middleton to the role of Assistant Chief Constable with Police Scotland. David and Wendy are experienced police officers who bring a range of skills to strengthen and support the Chief Constable and wider leadership team. I am confident they will make a significant contribution to policing in Scotland in the period ahead.”

The appointment selection panel was chaired by Martyn Evans, Chair of the Authority, and comprised:
• Sir Iain Livingstone QPM, Chief Constable of Police Scotland
• Katharina Kaspar, SPA Board Member
• Sandra Black – Former Chief Executive of Renfrewshire Council, Independent Member
His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland (HMICS) Craig Naylor was an observer to the panel.
The salary for an Assistant Chief Constable with Police Scotland is £130,729.
Start dates for the new ACCs will be agreed in line with their current employment requirements and announced in due course.
