Officers seek to identify woman involved in serious crash in Glasgow city centre
Officers from Road Policing are appealing for information following a serious road crash in Glasgow city centre on Thursday, 2 February, 2023.
Around 8.15pm police received a report of a road traffic collision involving a grey VW Tiguan car and a female pedestrian in Elmbank Street at its junction with St Vincent Street.
Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where medical staff describe her condition as critical. The driver of the car, a 57-year-old man, was uninjured.
The identity of the injured woman is unknown and extensive enquiries are being carried out to identify her and notify her family.
The road had to be closed for several hours to allow crash scene investigators to conduct their enquiries.
Sergeant Chris Hoggans of the Road Policing Department based in Glasgow said: “It is imperative we find out who this woman is so we can contact her family and let them know what has happened. She is aged between 35 – 45 years old, has light brown/blond hair and was wearing a light cream coloured jacket.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to contact us with any information they may have relevant to this investigation, or who can help us identify the pedestrian involved.
“In particular, I would ask members of the public with recording devices to please check their images as they could assist in our investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3467 of 2 February, 2023.
