New Assistant Chief Constable takes oath
Assistant Chief Constable Wendy Middleton was welcomed by Chief Constable Sir Iain Livingstone QPM as she was sworn in as a Police Scotland officer.
ACC Middleton made the Constable’s Declaration at Police Scotland headquarters, Tulliallan, on Monday, 27 February, 2023, with her oath of office overseen by Justice of the Peace David Donaldson.
ACC Middleton was previously Chief Superintendent with Local Policing at the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).
Her appointment follows a process of assessment, interview and selection conducted by the Scottish Police Authority. ACC Middleton will oversee the Criminal Justice portfolio within the Local Policing command area. SPA Chair Martyn Evans also attended the ceremony.
Sir Iain said: “Wendy brings experience and dedication to public service to our strong leadership team. I am grateful to her for stepping forward to contribute to our shared mission to protect the people of Scotland.”
ACC Middleton said: “It’s a privilege to join Police Scotland and I look forward to working with dedicated officers and staff across the organisation as they support the safety and wellbeing of communities in Scotland.”
ACC Middleton has 25 years’ experience of policing in Northern Ireland, most recently as PSNI Chief Superintendent in Local Policing where she was the operational lead for the policing response to COVID and also had responsibility for roll out of the Neighbourhood Policing Delivery Programme across Northern Ireland.
Wendy was previously a District Commander and a Senior Detective in the Crime Operations Department where she led a number of investigations into serious and organised crime.
