Man charged in connection with cyber fraud, Aberdeenshire
Officers have arrested and charged a 37-year-old man after a 73-year-old woman from Aberdeenshire was the victim of cyber-enabled fraud in October 2021.
The man has been released on undertaking to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court at a later date.
This follows an investigation by North East Division’s Cyber-Enabled Crime Team, as part of Project Henhouse – a UK-wide campaign to tackle fraud.
Detective Sergeant David Williamson, of the Cyber-Enabled Crime Team, said: “Criminals use internet-enabled technology to target vulnerable people.
“Police Scotland are committed to working with partners to prevent cyber-crime and to pursue individuals or groups who utilise technology for criminal purposes.
