Chief Superintendent Trickett talks all things cyber at FutureScot conference
Chief Superintendent Conrad Trickett addressed the FutureScot Cyber Security Conference today (27 February 2023) where he talked about Police Scotland’s role in helping to support and protect the communities we serve from the ever increasing threat from cyber criminals.
He highlighted the part we play in responding to cyber incidents and what we can do to coordinate the response. A key part of our coordination role is the strength of the relationships we have with our partnerships in the sector including Cyber Scotland Partnership and wider UK Policing amongst many others.
In addition, as lead of the Policing in a Digital World programme he participated in an expert panel which talked about how the role of partnerships, community and knowledge exchange is important to increasing cyber resilience.
The conference marked the start of Cyber Scotland Week 2023. Police Scotland is a key partner in the annual initiative, designed to make businesses, organisations and individuals more cyber aware and resilient, with events promoting online safety and cyber resilience taking place across the country.
Police Scotland is committed to keeping people safe in the digital world as part of its Cyber Strategy. The strategy outlines how the service will adapt to the changing nature of crime and recognises the need to provide reassurance, education and enforcement in public, private and digital spaces as the environment we live and work in evolves rapidly.
Chief Superintendent Trickett says: “Every crime now has a cyber element and it is our role to help support and protect the communities we serve by making them cyber aware and resilient in this growing digital world.
“Tackling cybercrime is a priority for Police Scotland and being part of Cyber Scotland Week shows our commitment to doing all we can to make sure we are have the skills and capabilities to enhance Police Scotland’s resilience to being cyber aware
