Youth disorder action in Linwood and Johnstone
Following an increase in reports of youth disorder in Linwood and Johnstone, Police Scotland has increased patrols in the area.
An action plan is in place throughout this weekend, with dedicated community officers working alongside partner agencies, including Renfrewshire Council Community Safety, to provide reassurance.
Sergeant Bob Brooks said: “We know this increase in youth disorder has been a cause for concern in the community.
“High visibility patrols will be carried out over the coming period, and any incidents will be robustly dealt with.
“We appreciate that most young people behave respectfully whilst out with friends, however yet again, it is the minority who cause issues.
“I would urge parents and carers to play a part in keeping our communities safe by ensuring they are aware of the whereabouts of young people and have honest conversations about the impact of their actions and the potential for arrest should they engage in criminal acts.
“Where instances of anti-social behaviour do occur, I would ask that people continue reporting through the 101 telephone number, or through 999 if it an emergency.”
