Woman's car stolen in Kilsyth
Detectives are appealing for information after a woman’s car, a red Vauxhall Astra, was stolen in Kilsyth.
Around 9.10pm on Thursday, 7 December, 2023, a 38-year-old woman was sitting in her car, parked outside a premises in King Street, Kilsyth. The woman was with her daughter, aged 10, at the time, when two men approached the car and opened the driver’s door. The men threatened the woman and demanded she hand over the car to them.
The woman and her daughter were uninjured, but they have been left badly shaken by the incident.
A short time after, the stolen car was seen driving south on Howe Road (B802) at the roundabout at Auchinstarry.
One of the men is described as around 6ft. tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a grey, long-sleeved top and grey jogging trousers. He spoke with a local accent and had a covering over his face to conceal his identity.
Detective Constable Scott Archer said: “This was a very frightening experience for the woman and her daughter, to be subjected to such an incident is unacceptable and it’s vital we trace the two men responsible. I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time who may have seen the men or the incident to contact us. Similarly, if anyone with recording equipment or dashcam, please review your footage and bring anything significant to our attention.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3490 of 7 December, 2023. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and give the information anonymously.
