Police appeal for woman who came to the aid of teenage girl in Ayr
We are appealing for help to trace a woman who came to the assistance of a teenage girl during an incident in Ayr on the afternoon of Wednesday, 29 November, 2023.
Around 3pm a 14-year-old girl was walking along Lochlea Drive when a man who was unknown to her started following her and behaving in a suspicious manner.
A woman with blonde hair who was driving a white car saw what was happening, stopped her vehicle and challenged the man who made off from the scene.
The woman also made sure the girl got home safely.
The man is described as in his 50’s, around 6ft tall, and was wearing a grey woolly hat, a long black jacket and black pointed shoes.
Constable Paul Edwards from Ayr Police Station said: “Thanks to the actions of this woman the teenage girl did not come to any harm and got home safely, however it was still an extremely frightening ordeal for her.
“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and we are appealing for the woman, who is a key witness in our investigation, to please get in touch.
“We are also looking for any members of the public who saw what happened, or motorists with dash-cams who may have footage of the incident, to come forward.
