Man who died following Ayrshire crash named
A 23-year-old man who died following a serious crash on the A77 near Galston in East Ayrshire has been named.
He was Gordon Stirling from the Crosshouse area.
The incident happened around 5.30pm on Monday, 14 August, 2023, near to the junction with the A719 and involved a white Ford Transit and a single decker Stagecoach bus.
Mr Stirling was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with life-threatening injuries. He died in hospital on Saturday, 19 August, 2023.
The transit driver, a 42-year-old man, was also taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries. His condition is described as serious but stable.
Inspector Craig Beaver of Ayrshires Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Stirling at what is a very difficult time for them. Our investigation into the circumstances of the crash are continuing. I would ask anyone with information, including dash-cam footage, who has not already spoken to officers to please get in touch.
