Appeal following fatal crash, A99, Caithness
Road policing officers are appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash in Caithness.
Emergency services were called to the crash, involving a motorbike and a car, on the A99 at Blackness near Mid Clyth around 8pm on Thursday, 17 August, 2023.
The rider of the black Honda CBF motorbike, a 30-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 74-year-old female driver of the car, a yellow Seat Ibiza, was not hurt.
The road was closed while crash investigations were carried out and reopened around 3am.
Enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing and officers are appealing for information.
Road Policing Sergeant Neil MacDonald said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died. Officers are offering them support and will continue to do so throughout our investigation.
“I’m keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened, saw the vehicles prior to the crash or drivers with dash cam footage of the area around the time.”
