Officers appeal to parents after anti-social behaviour in Kilmarnock
Officers in East Ayrshire are appealing to parents and carers to speak to their children, and know where they were going, what they are doing and who they are with, following a number of incidents of anti-social behaviour.
Police Scotland received a total of fourteen reports of anti-social behaviour, including assault, vandalism and disorder in the Kilmarnock town centre and Shortlees areas over the past couple of days.
Inspector Iain Farmer said: “We have had reports of youths being abusive to others, throwing bottles and other items, as well as vandalising property. We are carrying out enquiries into all of these incidents and will identify those responsible.
“Whilst we do this there will be an increase in patrols in these areas. Local officers will be working alongside our partners throughout the town centre to stop this type of behaviour.
“I want to also appeal for parents and carers to talk to their children about these types of crimes. Anti-social behaviour is unacceptable. Our community is a safe place and the small minority that choose to commit these incidents will be dealt with.”
