Appeal for information following two linked break-ins in the Scottish Borders
Officers in the Scottish Borders are appealing for information following two break-ins that are being linked, one in Duns and one in Coldingham.
Around 11.45pm on Sunday, 25 September, a garage on the industrial estate, Station Road, Duns, was broken into and a silver Volkswagen Transporter camper van, registration GE19 DMY, and a black Volkswagen CC, registration GU52 HAZ, were taken.
On Monday, 26 September, around 1am, the Post Office in Bridge Street, Coldingham, was broken into and a safe containing a five figure sum of money was stolen.
Both vehicles have since been recovered. The camper van was found in the Newfields Housing estate, Berwick-upon-Tweed, on Monday, 26 September, and the CC in the Craigmillar area of Edinburgh on the same day.
Detective Constable Alexander Blacklock, of Galshiels CID, said: “We are treating the theft of these vehicles and the break-in at the Post Office as linked and are keen to speak to anyone who can help with our ongoing enquiries.
“We would like to speak to anyone who saw these vehicles between the time they were stolen and the time they were found, particularly if you have dash-cam or private CCTV footage that could assist officers.
“In addition, anyone who saw anything suspicious in and around the garage in Duns or the Post Office in Coldingham, is also asked to get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3727 for Duns and incident number 0137 for Coldingham. Or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
