Appeal for information following serious road crash in Ayrshire
Road Policing Officers in Ayrshire are appealing for witnesses after a serious road crash on the A77 south of Ballantrae.
Around 5.05pm on Wednesday, 31 August, 2022, a 24-year-old man was driving a white Toyota Yaris on the A77, around two miles from Ballantrae, when the vehicle was involved in a crash with a blue Volvo V90, which was being driven by a 58-year-old woman.
Emergency services attended and the 24-year-old man and 85-year-old female passenger in the Volvo were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow by air ambulance for treatment.
Hospital staff describe their condition as serious.
The 58-year-old woman and another female passenger in the Volvo, aged 32, were taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.
The 24-year-old male passenger in the Toyota Yaris was also taken to Crosshouse Hospital.
The road was closed for around six hours while investigations were carried out.
Sergeant Stewart Taylor said: "Our enquiries into the cause of the crash are continuing.
"I would ask any witnesses, or anyone with information that will assist our ongoing investigation to contact us.
"I would also ask anyone driving on that road around the time of the incident with dash-cam footage to get in touch."
