Maybole Police Station relocates

Maybole Police Station has relocated to Kirkoswald Road.

Officers moved to the new site on Wednesday 12 October and the police station is now fully operational.

It offers fit-for-purpose and modern accommodation delivered in line with Police Scotland’s estate strategy which aims to respond to the changing policing needs of communities.

The strategy was approved by the Scottish Police Authority in 2019 and reflects Police Scotland’s priority to co-locate and collaborate with partners.

Chief Inspector Kevin Lammie, area commander said: “This move signals one of several to come for policing across Ayrshire as work is already under way to deliver more modern and efficient accommodation for officers and staff.

“Police Scotland inherited a large, complex and ageing estate and the old Maybole Police Station was built around fifty years ago. It was too large for the current policing requirement, with limited flexibility to sustain existing and future operating models needed to meet the changing policing demands of the community.

“This new site keeps us visible and accessible and helps us maintain the quality of service our communities have come to expect from us.”

The station is based on what will become the new Maybole Community Campus. Street signage has been erected at the temporary access to the station on Kirkoswald Road and will relocate to a permanent fixture in the coming weeks.

The existing Maybole Police Station will be marketed for sale in due course.
