Man jailed for four years following Grantown-on-Spey fatal crash
Police Scotland has acknowledged the sentencing of Gary Tierney following a fatal road crash on the A939 Dava Moor road, near Grantown-on-Spey, which took place on Wednesday, 7 October, 2020.
The crash led to the death of 86-year-old Matthew Donnell, who died at the scene.
Tierney has been sentenced to four years imprisonment at the High Court in Edinburgh.
Sergeant David Miller, from the Highland and Islands Road Policing Unit, was senior investigating officer for the incident. He said: “We welcome the sentence handed down to Gary Tierney, whose driving on that day fell far below the standard expected of any driver, let alone a professional HGV driver.
“His actions highlight the devastating consequences of dangerous driving and the lasting impact it has on those involved, along with their families and friends.”
