Appeal following serious road crash on the Isle of Lewis
Road Policing officers are appealing for witnesses following a crash involving a motorcycle on the A857 Ness to Stornoway Road.
The incident happened near South Galson on the Isle of Lewis around 7.30am on Friday, 14 October, 2022.
Emergency services attended and a 60-year-old man, the rider of the motorcycle, was airlifted to Western Isles Hospital and was then transferred to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. He remains in serious condition.
The road was closed for around 10 hours while a full collision investigation was carried out and re-opened at 5.30pm.
Sergeant Calum MacAulay, of Dingwall’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may be able to help with our investigation to get in touch.
“We would be especially keen to hear from anyone who may have been driving in the area and witnessed what happened or has dash-cam footage of the motorcycle involved.
