Six men and a male youth arrested in connection with serious violence in Lanarkshire and Ayrshire
Police Scotland can confirm that six men and a male youth have been arrested following incidents of serious violence in Lanarkshire and Ayrshire.
The first incident happened on Friday 4 November, 2022, when officers were called to a report of a disturbance in Caldercruix Road, Airdrie, around 3.30pm.
The second incident happened around 3.50pm on Sunday, 6 November, 2022, when officers attended following a report of a disturbance just off the A76, Bowhouse roundabout, Kilmarnock.
On Monday, 21 November, a 23-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the Ayrshire incident and was due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 22 November.
On the same date another 23-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with both incidents and was due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 22 November, and at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 23 November.
On Sunday, 27 November, a 22-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with both incidents. He was due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, 28 November, in connection with the Ayrshire incident and at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 29 November, in connection with the Lanarkshire incident.
Also on Sunday, 27 November, a 23-year-old man and a 21-year-old man were arrested and charged in connection with the Ayrshire incident and both were due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, 28 November.
Following further enquiries, officers attended at a number of addresses in Wishaw, Shotts, Larkhall and Strathaven on Tuesday, 29 November, when two people, a man aged 28 and a male youth aged 15, were arrested in connection with the Ayrshire incident.
The police investigation to trace all those responsible continues.
Chief Inspector Graeme McLaughlin said: “A number of arrests have been made in connection with these serious incidents in Lanarkshire and Ayrshire following a robust police investigation into violence.
“I would like to reassure the public that incidents of violence are taken extremely seriously and detailed investigations will always be carried out to trace those responsible. This kind of behaviour is not acceptable in our communities.”
