Disorder in Kirkton area of Dundee - Update
Officers carrying out enquiries into the disorder in the Kirkton area of Dundee during the evening of Monday, 31 October, 2022, have arrested and charged one male and another male has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
A 16-year-old male has been arrested and charged and is due to appear at Dundee Sherriff Court on Friday, 4 November, 2022.
The other male, also aged 16, will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with mobbing and rioting offences and is expected to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court at a later date.
Officers are following several other positive lines of enquiry and are continuing to identify others involved.
Regular patrols of the area will also continue.
Chief Superintendent Phil Davison, local policing commander for Tayside Division, said: “We know how distressing the disorder seen in Kirkton on Monday evening was for the local community.
"I want to reassure people that we are continuing to investigate a number of crimes committed during the evening and I fully expect others to be identified and charged as this work progresses.
“We have provided a highly visible police presence in the Kirkton area to provide a level of reassurance to local residents and this will continue in the coming days and into the weekend.
“I want to commend the local community for the resilience they have shown following this hugely disruptive and upsetting incident.
“We are fully committed to keeping people safe in the area and I would urge anyone with any information about the incident which has not yet been passed to police to call 101 or speak to any of our officers.”
