Appeal for information following fatal road crash on A697 near Lauder
Police Scotland is appealing for information following a fatal road crash in Lauder.
Around 4.30pm on Friday, 11 November, officers were called to the A697 between Carfraemill and Greenlaw after a red Kia Venga and a blue Kia Sportage were involved in a collision.
Emergency services attended and 79-year-old man, the driver of the Kia Venga and an 85-year-old woman, the passenger of the same vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.
The female driver of the blue Kia Sportage was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.
The road was closed for around 7 hours while an investigation was carried out.
Road Policing Sergeant Kosmas Papakyriakou said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of those involved in this incident.
“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened and we are appealing for anyone who was on the A697 around this time and who witnessed the crash or either vehicle on the road beforehand to contact us.
“I would also ask drivers with dash-cam footage who were in the area to contact us if they believe they can assist.”
