Appeal following fatal crash in Rutherglen
Road policing officers are appealing for information following a fatal crash in Rutherglen.
The incident, involving a Mercedes C220 and a Ford Mondeo, happened around 11.50pm on Friday, 18 November, 2022, on Mill Street at the junction with Kings Park Avenue.
Emergency services attended and the 73-year-old male passenger of the Mercedes was pronounced dead at the scene. The 80-year-old male driver was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died a short time later.
The 34-year-old male driver of the Ford Mondeo was not injured and has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The road was closed to allow investigation work to be carried out and recovery arranged. It remains closed at this time.
Sergeant Gemma Blackadder said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of those who died as a result of this incident.
“Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time of the crash and who may have witnessed it or have dash cam footage to contact us.”
