Appeal following serious road crash in Prestwick
Officers are appealing for information following a road crash in Prestwick on Saturday, 28 May 2022.
Around 12.40pm, police received a report that a car in Main Street, Prestwick, hit several parked cars, before mounting the pavement where it collided with a pedestrian and crashed into a shop window.
Emergency services attended and the 86-year-old female pedestrian was taken to Crosshouse Hospital with serious injuries. She has since been transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. Medical staff describe her condition as critical.
The 74-year-old male driver of the vehicle was uninjured but has been left badly shaken by the incident.
The road was closed allowing crash scene investigators to carry out enquiries.
Sergeant Chris Hoggans, from Road Policing, said: “Main Street was pretty busy on Saturday afternoon and I am appealing to members of the public, who were in the area around the time of the incident, to contact us with any information. It’s vital we have all the facts so we can continue to piece together the full circumstances of what has happened.”
