Orkney police community engagement plan 2022/23
Orkney Police Area Commander Ali Garrow is pleased to announce the implementation of the Police Community Engagement Plan for 2022/23.
The aim of the plan is to improve service delivery on the outer isles by ensuring a planned schedule of island visits throughout the year. Officers will travel to the islands in order to carry out community engagement surgeries, visibility patrols, traffic enforcement and schools visits. They will also work alongside local partners to develop better joint approaches to resident concerns and community safety.
Chief Inspector Garrow said: "COVID-19 has been a huge challenge and I firmly believe there is a need to reconnect with the community after two years of managing the risks presented by the pandemic. My commitment to Orkney’s diverse communities is to be available and visible to everyone."
Visit dates will be posted on the Orkney Police twitter account and the location for each surgery held will be available in advance.
Other visits in response to urgent incidents or to carry out random checks will still be conducted.
These additional visits are to ensure that the islands are given as much access to police services as those on the mainland.
The first visits will be on Wednesday, 6 April, to Westray.
