Couple named following fatal crash on Sanday, Orkney Isles

Police Scotland can now confirm the identities of a couple who died yesterday morning following a fatal crash on the island of Sanday, Orkney Isles.

They can be named as 39-year-old John Drever and 34-year-old Vikki Drever from Sanday.

The incident involved one vehicle and is believed to have happened between the hours of 9pm on Thursday, 24 March and the early hours of Friday, 25 March, on the B9068, Burness, Sanday.

John Drever, the driver, and his wife Vikki were pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant Angus Macleod, of Highland and Islands Road Policing, said: “My thoughts are with the families and friends of Mr and Mrs Drever at this difficult time, and they have asked for their privacy to be respected following their loss.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call local officers via 101, quoting reference 0634 of Friday, 25 March, 2022."
