Appeal following assault with intent to rob in Saltcoats
Detectives in Ayrshire are appealing for witnesses following an assault with intent to rob which occurred in Saltcoats on Wednesday, 9 March, 2022.
Around 10.40am, a 72-year-old woman was walking in Chapelwell Street when she was approached by a woman who threatened her and demanded money.
The suspect ran away and no money was stolen.
She is described as being between 35 and 39-years-old, of heavy build, around 5ft 5in, with dark hair and wearing a dark blue three-quarter length jacket with black trousers.
Detective Constable James Wales, of Ayrshire CID, said: “This was a frightening experience for the victim who luckily did not sustain any injuries.
"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing to trace the woman responsible.
"I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident who may have witnessed what happened, or any motorists who were in the area with dash cam footage, to please come forward.
