Man arrested in the United Arab Emirates in connection with serious sexual offence committed in Scotland in 2013

Police Scotland can confirm that a 31-year-old man has been arrested in Abu Dhabi on an international arrest warrant in connection with a serious sexual offence which took place in Greenock in December 2013 .

He has been extradited back to Scotland following co-operation by Police Scotland, the National Crime Agency, Interpol, and the UAE authorities including the Abu Dhabi Police.

He is due to appear at the High Court in Edinburgh on Friday, 17 June 2022.
