Appeal following serious road crash on the A96 near Nairn
Road Policing officers are appealing for information following a serious road crash on the A96 near Nairn on Saturday, 4 June, 2022.
Around 11.10pm, an 18-year-old man was driving a black Ford Fiesta car on the B9092 at the junction with the A96, when the vehicle was involved in a crash with a blue Fiat Ducato camper van, that was being driven on the A96 by a 72-year-old man.
Emergency services attended and the 18-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, where he received treatment for his injuries. Hospital staff describe his condition as stable.
A 18-year-old male passenger in the Ford Fiesta were also taken to Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, for treatment. Hospital staff describe his condition as stable.
Two female passengers in the Ford Fiesta - aged 17 and 18 - were taken to hospital as a precaution.
The driver and front seat passenger of the Fiat Ducato camper van were uninjured.
However, the 72-year-old female rear seat passenger was taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. Hospital staff describe her condition as stable.
Sergeant Alasdair MacKay, of the Road Policing Unit based in Inverness, said: "Our enquiries into the cause of the crash are continuing.
"Although the crash took place late at night, I would ask any witnesses, or anyone with information that will assist our ongoing investigation to contact us.
"I would also ask anyone driving on that road around the time of the crash with dash-cam footage to get in touch."
