Police name 14-year-old girl who died after getting into difficulty in River Teith, Bridge of Allan
A 14-year-old girl has died after getting into difficulty in the River Teith, Bridge of Allan.
Around 5.50pm on Tuesday, 12 July, 2022, police were called to a report of a 14-year-old girl in difficulty in the River Teith, near to Carse of Lecropt Road, Bridge of Allan.
Emergency services attended and she was taken by Air Ambulance to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Glasgow, where she died on Saturday, 16 July, 2022.
She can be named as Nieve McIsaac.
Her family has released the following statement through Police Scotland: "Nieve was a clever, funny, and beautiful young girl.
"She was a much loved daughter, sister, granddaughter and niece, and we have been left devastated by her death.
"We wish to ask for privacy at this very difficult time."
Officers are providing support to Nieve's family and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Detective Sergeant Craig Faulds, of Forth Valley CID, said: "This is a heartbreaking incident in which a young girl has died.
"The family has asked that they be given privacy at this very difficult time and I would like to ask the public and media to please respect the family's wishes as they deal with their unimaginable loss."
