Appeal for information following fatal crash on the A9
Police Scotland can confirm that three people have died following a road traffic collision on Tuesday, 5 July, 2022.
Around 11.40am, police received a report of a road crash involving a red Ford Fiesta and a black Mercedes C Class on the A9 at Slochd Summit, near Carrbridge.
The male driver of the Fiesta, David McPherson (68) was pronounced dead at the scene.
His wife Elza McPherson (64) and their two-year old grandson were taken to hospital, where they both died a short time later.
The occupants of the black Mercedes, a man (67) and woman (65) were also injured and taken to hospital, and are now described by medical staff as being in a stable condition.
A white Mercedes Sprinter pick up vehicle was also involved in the collision and the male driver did not suffer any injuries.
The road was closed for nine hours while crash scene investigators conducted enquiries into the circumstances of the collision.
Sergeant Neil MacDonald, of the Road Policing Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased and the family have requested that their privacy is respected at this time.
"We are conducting extensive enquiries into the circumstances of this incident and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
"In particular, I would ask anyone with dash cam devices to check their footage as it could hold images which could prove to be significant in our enquiries."
