Appeal after series of fire-raising incidents in Hamilton
Detectives in South Lanarkshire are appealing for information after a series of fire-raising incidents in Hamilton.
Vehicles and property have been damaged in the incidents on Reid Street and Sneddon Terrace.
The initial incident was reported at Reid Street shortly after 8pm on Wednesday, 10 November 2021, when a parked car was set on fire and destroyed.
A further car was found on fire at Reid Street about 9am on Thursday, 23 December.
Again on Reid Street around 7.25am on Sunday, 2 January, 2022, another car was set on fire with a nearby fence.
And another vehicle was reported to be on fire at Sneddon Terrace around 10.35am on Monday, 3 January.
Detective Inspector Gordon Sneddon said: “We were keeping an open mind about links between each of the incidents, though there are similarities about each of the fires.
“We would urge anyone who may have information about the incidents, or who may have dashcam or private CCTV footage to get in touch.
“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a small, silver hatchback style car in the area over the past few weeks.
“Officers will also be carrying out regular patrols of the area to provide reassurance and anyone with concerns or information is encouraged to speak directly to an officer.
“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting 0705 of 23 December, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
