Re-appeal following fatal road crash - M8, Chapelhall
Officers are again appealing information following the death of 29-year-old man on the M8 on Sunday, 30 January 2022.
Around 1.50am, emergency services were alerted to an incident where a pedestrian, walking on the M8 carriageway, was struck by a blue Seat Leon car driving westbound on the motorway. He died at the scene.
The driver of the Seat Leon was uninjured but was very upset following the incident.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident. Officers would like to hear from motorists who have not yet come forward. Sergeant John Houston said:
“From our enquiries, we are aware there were other vehicles, in particular a HGV lorry, travelling on the carriageway around the time of the incident and I am asking that lorry driver and other motorists to contact us.
"It is entirely possible that they may not have been aware that a man was struck, but we would ask that if you were travelling along the road in the early hours of Sunday morning, 30 January, then please get in touch.
"We are especially keen to hear from motorists with dash cam devices as their footage could have captured images which could prove to be significant in our enquiries.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 0449 of 30 January 2022.
