Appeal following wilful fire-raising in Shotts
Police in Lanarkshire are appealing for information following a wilful fire-raising and attempted fire-raising in Shotts.
Around 8pm on Saturday, 5 February, 2022, officers were called after an attempt was made to set fire to a car on Tulloch Road, Stane.
Later that night, around 3.30am on Sunday, 6 February, officers received report of a car on fire on the same street.
Emergency services attended and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire safely. There were no injuries.
Detective Constable, Murray McMillan of Lanarkshire CID, said: “Thankfully nobody has been injured as a result of these reckless acts.
“We are treating the fire as deliberate and are asking anyone with any information to come forward and speak to officers.
“Although this took place in the early hours of the morning, I would ask if you noticed anyone acting suspicious in the area to get in contact with police.
“I would also appeal to anyone who has possible dashcam or CCTV footage that may be able to assist us with our enquiries.”
