Appeal following wilful fire raising in Hamilton
Police in Lanarkshire are appealing for information following a wilful fire-raising in Hamilton.
Around 2.15am on Sunday, 20 February, 2022, officers were called to a report of a fire at a shop on Bothwell Road.
Officers attended and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire safely. There were no injuries.
Detective Sergeant Charles Limond, of Lanarkshire CID, said: “Thankfully nobody has been injured as a result of this reckless act.
“We are treating the fire as deliberate and are asking anyone with any information to come forward and speak to officers.
“Although this took place in the early hours of the morning, I would ask if you noticed anyone acting suspicious or any suspicious vehicles in the area to get in contact with police.
“I would also appeal to anyone who has possible dashcam or CCTV footage that may be able to assist us with our enquiries.”
