Appeal after break-in and attempted robbery in Houston
Detectives in Renfrewshire are appealing for information after a break-in and attempted robbery at a property in Houston.
The incident happened at a house on Hewett Crescent shortly after 8.10pm on Saturday, 19 February.
A number of men forced entry to the property before threatening the two occupants and demanding money. They subsequently left empty handed.
At least three men were involved and possibly up to five. They are all described as wearing dark clothing, hats and had their faces covered with black cotton type material face masks.
They all wore knitted black gloves.
Detective Constable Gary Bruce said: “While neither were injured, the two householders were subjected to a frightening ordeal before these men left the house.
“Extensive enquiries are ongoing into this incident and I would urge anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity around the area on Saturday evening to get in touch.
“I would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam or private CCTV footage from the area.
“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 3212 of 19 February, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
