Man charged following number of thefts in the Carluke area
A 39-year-old man has been charged following a number of thefts in the Carluke area recently.
As part of an ongoing enquiry over the last two weeks, the man was charged in connection with attempted housebreaking, housebreaking and theft of a vehicle.
He is expected to appear at Lanark Sheriff Court today (Wednesday, 21 December, 2022).
Chief Inspector Graeme McLaughlin said: “I would like to thank the local community who assisted with our enquiries.
“We are acutely aware of the distress and upset of having your home broken into causes to families, the same with having your vehicle stolen.
“Home security if vital – keep your home locked at all times. Please don’t make it easy for thieves by leaving doors and windows open. Set timers on lights if you are going out. Close curtains or blinds to deter window shopping, especially at this time of year with presents under Christmas trees.
“I would also ask motorists to take every sensible precaution to avoid becoming a victim of car crime. Never leave your car open and unattended, fit an alarm and don’t leave anything on display.”
“If you see a crime or are aware of criminal activity please contact Police Scotland on 101.”
