Festive message from Chief Superintendent Stevie Dolan
As we approach the end of another extraordinary year for policing, I want to take this opportunity to thank my policing colleagues for their hard work and commitment to keeping Lanarkshire’s communities safe.
I see every day how dedicated they are to delivering the quality of service you have come to expect of us and our latest public confidence figures show that more than 80% of you feel safe in your local area.
I would like to reflect on the biggest ever policing operation delivered this year - the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
As is so often the case in times of sadness or national challenge, duty requires policing to step forward with compassion and professionalism and officers and staff set aside their personal plans at short notice to give public service. Lanarkshire’s communities supported them in large numbers and I would like to pay tribute to everyone for their support.
This Christmas is similar to last year’s where we are not bound by the restrictions of the pandemic and so our town centres and hospitality venues will be lively and busy. If you are going out please plan ahead and consider how you are getting home and, if you are drinking, please do so responsibly and respect others who are sharing the same social space as you.
Before you venture out please ensure your home is secure and valuables are out of sight and if you are driving, check your vehicle is roadworthy and winter-ready. Officers will be patrolling Lanarkshire’s roads to keep them safe so please don’t take any risks with drink or drug driving - for your own sake and for other road users.
As well as patrolling our roads, officers will be out and about in our communities keeping you safe as you enjoy the festivities. Please say hello if you see us.
Thank you for your continued support to policing and for engaging with us. On behalf of everyone at Lanarkshire Policing Division, I wish you all a very safe, peaceful and enjoyable Christmas.
Best wishes,
Chief Superintendent Stevie Dolan
