Appeal following wilful fire raising in Greenock

Police are appealing for witnesses after a black Volkswagen Golf GTI Turbo was set on fire in Greenock. 

The incident happened on Cartsburn Street, Greenock, around 12.05am on Monday, 8 August, 2022.

Officers and the Scottish Fire and rescue Service attended and the fire was extinguished, with no injuries reported. 

The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing. 

Constable Agnieszka Telford said: “We are appealing for anyone with any information which may assist us to get in touch.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and saw anything or anyone with dash cam footage or private CCTV to contact us.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 0077 of 8 August, 2022. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
