Appeal for witnesses after disturbance on Market Square, Dumfries
Officers in Dumfries are appealing for information following a disturbance on Market Square.
Police were made aware of a number of assaults in the area involving groups of football fans and other members of the public around 5pm on Saturday, 23 April, 2022.
Three men aged 41, 54 and 58 were taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and released following treatment.
Detective Constable Allister Queen said: “This was a serious incident and it is vital we trace those responsible. This level of disorder and criminality will not be tolerated.
“Not only were people hurt but those trying to enjoy their weekend in the local area were left intimidated by the behaviour of a small number of people.
“I would urge anyone who saw what happened or has footage of the incident to contact Police Scotland. You can do this by phoning 101 and quoting reference 2626 of 23 April 2022 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
