Scott Forrest guilty of serious sexual offences
A 52 year-old man has been found guilty of the abduction and serious sexual assault on a 77-year-old woman in East Kilbride in July, 2020.
Scott Forrest, was found guilty on Friday, 3 September at the High Court in Glasgow. He will sentenced at a later date.
On Friday, 17 July, 2020, Forrest attended the elderly woman’s house in East Kilbride and forcibly removed her from her home. He took her to his own home nearby where he threatened her, then assaulted and seriously sexually assaulted her.
Detective Inspector Andy Maclean from the Divisional Rape Investigation Unit at Lanarkshire Division said: “This was a despicable attack on an elderly and defenceless woman by a sickening individual.
“Following the report to police, officers quickly tracked down Forrest ensuring that he could not carry out any further attacks. He was arrested on the day of the attack.
“I sincerely hope that this conviction will provide some measure of closure for his victim who has been extremely brave and courageous during this trial.
“Police Scotland treated all reports of sexual crime with the utmost seriousness, regardless of when the offences occurred. We will thoroughly investigate any reports, fully supported by our partner agencies to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.”
