Hit and Run – A85 near Taynuilt
Detectives are appealing for information following a hit and run incident on the A85 at Kirkton near Taynuilt.
Around 1am on Sunday, 10 October, 2021, police received a report a man had been found injured on the roadside of the A85 at Kirkton, near Taynuilt.
Emergency services attended and a 61-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been notified.
Initial enquiries have indicated the man may have been struck by a vehicle travelling on the A85. Officers believe this may have occurred between half past midnight and 1am and that the vehicle involved may have sustained damage in the incident. It’s not known if the vehicle was travelling towards Oban or travelling towards Crianlarich and further afield.
Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and will check for any public and private CCTV footage which could assist in the inquiry.
The A85 in this area remains closed to traffic and a diversion is in place as police continue to conduct enquiries at the location.
Detective Inspector Scott Hamilton said: “It’s imperative we find out how this man has died. His family is devastated by what has happened. We are working to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing to anyone who was on the A85 last night to contact us. Any small piece of information could assist the investigation.”
