COP26 protests pass off without incident
Providing an update on the policing operation for COP26, Assistant Chief Constable Gary Ritchie said:
"A number of protests took place across the country today and passed off without incident. These were facilitated by Police Scotland in line with our human rights commitment to enabling peaceful protest.“The World Leaders’ Summit takes place on Monday and Tuesday and our partners at Transport Scotland and Glasgow City Council have been urging the travelling public to plan ahead because the demand on the road and rail network is expected to be unprecedented.
“Major road restrictions are in place already and others take effect from Monday morning. People need to consider their plans carefully and avoid unnecessary travel.
"The Get Ready Glasgow website has extensive information about road closures and traffic hotspots and is a valuable resource for journey planning during COP26."
