Appeal for information following theft in Inverness
Officers in Inverness are appealing for information following the report of a theft in the city on Monday, 25 October, 2021.
The incident is understood to have taken place in an underpass which links Innes Street and Rose Street in the city at approximately 4.10pm.
The 54-year-old man was walking from the Rose Street entrance into the underpass when he is said to have been pushed. The victim was uninjured as a result of the incident but his wallet containing personal effects and a low sum of cash was stolen.
Detective Sergeant Graeme Johnston of Highland and Islands Division CID said: “Enquiries are at an early stage however the theft from the man took place at a time when the city centre would have been relatively busy.
“The victim reports that he did not see the perpetrator and so has been unable to provide a description. Officers are making enquiries with local businesses in the area and checking private and public space CCTV.
“If anyone has any information regarding this incident or was in the area of Rose Street on Monday afternoon or the city centre and recalls seeing anything suspicious, I would ask them to call Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 1573 of 26 October.”
