Over £100,000 worth of cannabis found in vehicles stopped on M74
Police Scotland can confirm that over £100,000 of class B drugs were found after officers stopped two vehicles on the M74 on Sunday, 23 May, 2021.
The intelligence-led stop of the vehicles, a Volkswagen Sharan and a Mercedes R350, happened at around 2.45pm on the M74 northbound near to junctions 13 and 8.
The drivers of each vehicle, along with a passenger from the Mercedes, were arrested while officers conducted searches of the vehicles.
These recovered herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of £106,000.
One man, aged 46-year-old, has been charged in connection with drugs offences and is due to appear in court at a later date.
Detective Chief Inspector John Morrison, said: “This work highlights our continued commitment to tackle drug crime and prevent drugs from getting into our communities.
“I’d ask anyone who has information about drugs offences to report these too us so that we can investigate accordingly.”
