Appeal for information following fatal road crash near Caldercruix
Police in Lanarkshire are appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash near Caldercruix.
The incident happened around 11.45pm on Sunday, 16 May, 2021, on the A89 Airdrie Road near to the Woodside Road junction and involved a pedestrian and a vehicle.
A 22-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The road remains closed to allow investigations to be conducted.
Detective Constable Lyndsay McKinnon, of Coatbridge CID, said: “This was a serious incident and our thoughts at this time are with the family and friends of the woman who lost her life.
“Our enquiries into the cause of the crash are continuing and I would ask anyone who saw what happened, and has not yet spoken to officers, to come forward.
“We are particularly interested to speak to anyone who was on the A89 before the crash, and may have seen the deceased walking.
“Anyone with information or anyone who may dashcam footage which can help the investigation is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 4229 of 16 May.”
