Two men charged for speeding on the A78, near Troon
Road Policing Officers at Ayrshire have charged two men who were caught driving at excessive speed on the A78, near Troon on Saturday, 13 March.
Around 7.20pm on Saturday evening, Road Policing Officers stopped a Mercedes CLS travelling at speeds up to 130mph on the A78 near Meadowhead roundabout. The 33-year-old driver was arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences.
On the same road, the officers also observed a Vauxhall Astra travelling at speeds up to 100mph. The 25-year-old driver was traced a short time later and arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences.
Chief Inspector Darren Faulds from the Road Policing Unit said: “It is always disappointing to see people driving at such excessive speeds and putting all road users at risk. One minor misjudgement and the results of speeding can be catastrophic.
“We know that speeding and other road traffic offences are a concern for people living in Ayrshire and our officers are committed to keeping our town’s roads safe. We will keep working to educate drivers and take action where appropriate to improve safety and reduce the number of injuries on our roads.”
“I would urge drivers to please watch their speed. Make sure you are aware of the speed limit and stick to it. It is there for a reason.”
